A Long Weld Neck (LWN) Flange is an integral self-reinforcing flange connection, primarily used in ASME pressure vessel applications. It is designed to replace a standard weld neck flange and a section of pipe for bolted connections to a vessel. This design reduces the stress on the neck by transferring it to the base, which is connected to the vessel. The LWN flange is the most common self-reinforced nozzle design due to its durability and strength.
Long Weld Neck Flanges are typically used in high-pressure and high-temperature applications, making them ideal for industries like chemical processing, oil and gas, and power generation. Their primary role is to provide secure and robust connections between pipes and pressure vessels.

The Long Weld Neck Flange has a flange end and sealing face that is designed according to ASME B16.5 for pipe sizes ranging from ½” to 24” and ASME B16.47 for pipe sizes from 26” to 60”. The standard bore for these flanges matches the pipe size but can be customized to meet specific requirements.
The standard barrel lengths for LWN flanges are 9”, 12”, and 16”. However, these lengths can be tailored to meet the customer’s specific needs, making LWN flanges a highly customizable solution for various applications.
